CLEAN! - Protecting our environment for the future

The aim of the project is to strengthen cooperation between organisations from Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg and Košice counties in the border region in the field of environmental protection; to strengthen and promote environmental awareness from school age onwards, involving adult population and environmental organisations, in order to mitigate the future challenges of the changing natural environment and the negative impacts of human activities.

A further goal is to achieve a high level of active social participation in cross-border activities: common, playful awareness-raising events, quizzes and festivals for children, educational conferences and exhibitions for the adult population. The long-term objective is to create and maintain a more liveable living environment involving the local population. Many environmental problems are the negative consequences of human activity and could be avoided through education and awareness raising, and the project aims to raise environmental awareness.

The objectives of the project are in line with the objectives of the Interreg V-A Slovakia-Hungary Cooperation Programme and priority 4 (Improving cross-border cooperation between public institutions and people living in the border area). Through joint awareness-raising activities ( waste picking, quiz) organised among schoolchildren and the population, social participation in cross-border activities increases, and interest in the activities increases. Joint activities bring the cross-border population closer together, especially young people and their families, and improve mutual understanding and bilingualism. Long-term, sustainable cooperation between the project partners will be established, particularly in the field of joint environmental awareness-raising and education.
